Ahead of myself (one giant leap) where is a good place to stay in Moscow
I just feel better to have things planned out, so I'd like to know if anyone has info
on places to stay in Moscow near the places that need to be attended. Incidentally,
does anyone have the addresses of the Dr and embassy and any other places that are
required to be visited? From the sounds of it she go to the interview (some year) and
go back home waiting again for the visa. Is it better to get plane tickets from
Ekaterinburg to Frankfurt to MPLS? Or take a train to Moscow and fly from there?

I just phoned a friend of mine working in Moscow.
Try the Sheraton Palace hotel or The Marriot Grand
Both pretty central and USA "brand names"
Good luck with your trip and let's hope you both return with visa in hand.
I hate to put a damperner on things but have you read the problems with visa issuance in Moscow (better you know now)
Go to the Dc Steen web site, there are so many postings on there about the current situation.

I am not planning on her getting a visa when she is in Moscow. If they do another
security check after the interview which is an ongoing thing now, she will be taking
a train home to Eburg. I haven't seen anyone say they got a visa and this began in
July, so I hope it won't take more than 30 days after the interview!! (but who knows)
You have to watch all these RU women who might be terrorists.....whatever!

Moscow hotels charge too much, especially if you're from US. My fiancee and I stayed
with my fiancee's relatives, and she came to pick me up at the airport when I
arrived. Are you asking for yourself or your lady?

The embassy page:
http://usembassy.state.gov/mosc-
ow/wwwhcm.html
has detailed map and directions, and is a good source of info too.

If there are international flights straight from Ekaterinburg, then go for it.
Moscow customs at Sheremetovo international airport is notorious of being nosy and
digging through one's suitcases. Many times it's just irritating.
Good luck, George F.

Hey. Drop a message to this guy! I just stayed in a very nice apartment that he
helped me arrange for. He does the "driver", and "interpreter" deal, but only if you
need that. Actually... He'll do just about anything for you that you need.
<mailto:[email protected]>. Or... Check
out his website. He's got several apartments listed there

I don't think we'll need an interpreter. We chat everyday in yahoo and her
English is fair now. (considering she only reads mine, she still hears and sees
RU all day everyday) Wow, this website will take some serious looking......it's
kind of a nightmare. How much for apt's? This would be ideal and the way to go if
we (or she) can.

Well she'll have an interview (someday) I don't know if I'll be. This depends on the
costs. I would like to meet her when she comes this way. This used to be the same
trip but now it is not so I think I might have to skip meeting her for the interview
and meet her in Germany after she gets the visa. I can't afford both trips nor can I
take time off of work.

I paid $80 per night/day. Considering the typical $150 for a hotel room it seemed
like a good deal to me. I rented the "Krasina Street Two Bedroom" apartment. Nice
balcony, cable TV, very nice living room, and very nice bedroom. Really a good deal I
thought. I was just there June 30th. Send him an email, and tell him I mentioned the
apartment to you. He'll know which apartment.
Plus... There is a chance you'll get a hassle from the hotel, and/or hotel security
(sometimes the mob) if you don't have a room for each of you (unless you are married
of course).
Yes... Pasha's website is a little confusing. He's trying to be involved in too many
things I think. But... He's a real nice guy. He doesn't actually own any of the
apartments. They are owned by an associate of his. He just kind of coordinates all of
it as a service to his customers. Plus... He recently hooked up with a fellow who
drives lots of Americans. An absolutely super guy who's name is Slava Nasonova. Slava
provided me with most of my transportation involving the airports. I enjoyed talking
with Slava as much as I enjoyed anything I did in Russia (except of course spending
time with my gal).

We stayed at the Marriott Grand Hotel, and it was great. You can flag a private auto
as a taxi, or take the metro to the stop by the zoo and walk a few blocks. I walked
from the Hotel to pick up my wife's visa. I think it took about 25-30 minutes.
There was a traffic jam when we left on the last day as there was some type of
foreign dignatary event.
The American Medical Center is about 1 1/2 blocks from one of the Metro stops.
