My wife is here with me via the k3 visa. We arrived here in Fl on
Saturday morning. I am looking at the steps for AOS and for the work
permit and the social security number BUT I am seeing conflicting
things. One site tells me the AOS costs $220 to file and then another
says it is free. The work permit says it costs $100 and she needs 2
ADIT pictures. On top of this I am trying to figure out how to apply
for a social security card. Anybody have a definate link or in your
own words what my next steps are in this?

If you were using the K1.exit site the fee schedules are incorrect. To determine correct filing fees, get it from the horse's mouth ... the INS website where you can also d/l or fill in the forms online, print out and mail in.
I believe AOS is $220, EAD is $110 and Advance Parole is $100.
She is suppose to be eligible for a social security card with just the K-3 but the SSA might balk at this and demand an actual EAD card instead. For a link for AOS, you can view the steps at:
The K1 FAQ http://www.txdirect.net/users/mike38/k1faq.htm
They are the same for your spouse even though she entered on a K-3 rather than a K-1.

My husband tried to get his SSN, and they wouldn't give it to him
because he didn't have his EAD yet. The application for it wasn't
good enough. They just gave him a letter saying "is not eligible for
a SSN at this time" so he could get his driver's license.
You apply for the EAD through MSC, same as the I-129F, unless you want
to try to file the AOS and EAD at a local office all at once. I am
not sure which is the better route. And always check the INS website
for the latest fees and updates to forms.

p.s. Rete, you shouldn't need advance parole on a K-3, should you?
Since it is a multiple entry visa?
