Affidavit of Sopport
Hi Members
I am US citizen amd want my friend to visit US.I have to sent him an affidavit of
support. When I searched about it I was advised by the people of different
opinions. Some advised me to type affidavit on a plain paper and have it attested from
a notary public.
Some had advised me to fill a printed form (I-134).
Someone had advised me to prepare both.
Now I am confused about it . Pleased advise me .
Thanks

My suggestion is still another one: don't send an affidavit of support at all. In
most cases, unless your friend is extremely poor, it does more harm than good. The
problem is that such an affidavit can be seen as one more reason to stay in the US
and not return to his home country.
What you should send him instead is an invitation.
An affidavit of support MUST be prepared on form I-134. It essentially states that
you will pay for your friend's trip, and how much money you make.
An invitation is written on plain paper addressed to your friend (NOT sent to the
consulate! Your friend should instead include it with his other visa paperwork) and
states what you are planning to do during his time in the US, and maybe also that he
is planning to return to his home country.
