Default Is it advisable for the USC to attend interview for k3 visa?

I live in Chicago and my husband is in Jordan. When he has the
interview for K3 visa, should I be there? I can fly there for it, but
it is a 13 hour flight and will cost about $2,500. If it will have
bearing on his approval, I will go. But if it has no importance, I
will wait here and save the money. What do you think? Will me being
there help?

Maybe someone else has specifics for Jordan.

I can tell you that at Vancouver they were not in the slightest bit interested in my wife, and had it cost $2,500 to bring her with me it would have been an absolute waste.

I was not there for my husband's interivew (Casablanca) on May 20th. You're not allowed in anyway. If you saw a few of the replies from others to my post "Husband's K-3 interview hell", it's really on the part of the interviewer I guess if your presence helps or not. Two of my friends (male USC's) married to morrocan women were not there for their interviews and they received their visa's, one of them the same day, one 2 weeks later. My husband has not yet received his visa, as 'additional administrative processing' must take place. I did fly off an email to the consulate though stating that although I was not able to accompany my husband to his interview that I was wrting to show my support. (I just wanted to show that he and I are in constant communication).

It was the same for me as you, the flight time and the money, if it doesn't help it's a waste... But as one poster said, maybe Jordan is different...

Good luck!

I do intend to be present for my husband's K-3 inteview. I've already contacted the consulate in South America and they told me I was welcome if that was my desire. In my case, whether it helps or not, I feel I've waited too long to delay my husband's coming to the US any additional time. Even though I am very limited in my financial resourdes, I don't see the trip for the interview as as waste of my money or time but as going for my shining armor once and for all. We've planned to tour the country for a week before heading back to the US as a final honeymoon before we start our married lives together. I'm not returning without him. Hopefully interview will go just fine.
thank you

Are you sure he will have the visa within that week you plan to spend there?

Which South American country? Highly advisable in Colombia - made everything at the embassy and the POE go extremely well.

I'm flying a week betore his K-3 interview and can take up to a month down there to sort any kind of delay in obtaining my husband's K-3. I have contacted the consulate over the phone who will be interviewing him/us and they said it'd be a piece of cake. I sure hope so.
thanks

I went with my (then) fiance to her K-1 interview in Madrid. I don't know
if it helped at all, but they seemed to be a little impressed that I was
there. She went up to the window by herself for the interview. But at the
end, the consular officer asked me to come up, too. He asked me a couple of
quick questions and then told us he was approving the visa.

You may want to try to contact the consulate which is doing the intervew to
see if:
a) you would be allowed in with him when he goes for the interview, and
b) whether it would help any.

Good luck.

I did call the consulate where my husband will be interviewing and they told me I was more than welcome to attend such event with him. I'm really looking forward to doing so.

Hi Jacque & Mohammed,

I attended my fiance's K1 interview in Ankara, Turkey, and I believe it helped a lot. It alleviated any questions the ConOff might have had about how we communicate (since his English is weak). I was more knowledgeable about all the paperwork, so when she asked for something I could produce it immediately. We also have a 14 year age difference that looks questionable on paper but not in person, and I wanted the ConOff to see that. I even did some translating for couples ahead of us in line, and got to develop a little "rapport" with the ConOff (who, by the way, was an extremely nice lady who smiled a lot).

Of course, that's my experience with an Iranian going through Turkey. But if Jordan will allow you to be present all during the interview, my advice would be to go. I think it shows a lot of commitment and support for each other, and gives you a chance to explain anything in person right away.

Best Wishes!
Rene
