Default advance parole - Any advice ?

I'm looking for any advice on the following

okay, the basics... We filed our change of status application back in june with Charlotte, NC office.

Nothing has been aknowledged by them as yet... but they did cash the cheque in July.... so we do know we're in the system... somewhere !!

At the time of the application we did not apply for AP

anyway... the reason for my post.. I want to apply for a travel permit asap, the reasoning for the AP application is I'm incredibly homesick, (I also have a lot of tidying up back in the UK .. pets, money, work, car.. the list is endless)

on Form I-131 it asks for my alien number and SS number... neither of which I have currently. The INS helpline told me that Charlotte may not give me one?? (alien number).

is it okay to apply without this information ?

and what reasons have you (anyone ) given for their purpose of travel. I don't want to just say something lame like being homesick and have them turn me down.

any response would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that your Alien Number will be stamped in your passport or on the
back of your I-94 in your passport - its
the A99-999-999 ("A" being the important bit ) type number stamped on it.
And you do not have to give any reasons for Advance Parole - if however you
wanted it fast tracked you would need a reason.

Hope this helps..

Isn't your Alien number on the paperwork once you get your Fiance Visa paperwork approved? Sorry, I am at work and don't have access to all our paperwork to check right now.

Cheers,

Leslie

We found my husbands A# by going to our bank and getting copies of the checks that were cashed by the BCIS...the number was stamped on the back of them. -MelissaS

You should be able to apply for an SSN at this point and in fact you
could have done it right at the start. It should only take a couple of
weeks. Your A no. should already be in your passport on the I94 they
gave you when you arrived on your K1, that is, if you did it that way.

As for AP, in the line where it asks when you want to go, just say
"multiple visits". For reasons, I wrote briefly that my parents were
elderly and I wanted to be able to see them if they got sick. I got
approved.

I never (like many) had a stamp in the passport.
It is important to know how the original poster came into
America, if it is on a K-1 he should have a A#. If not there
are other problems going on. If he married on a tourist
waiver and then started the procedure different things are happening.............
