adjustment of status interview after recieving the actual green card

Hello,
I just recieved an interview appointment for adjustment of status from
INS(homeland security), I have already recieved my green card a year
ago and I did not have the interview then. I have given finger print
back then but they also have requested now. Is it possible that the
green card comes first, before the interview or there is something that
they need to findout? Is there any step that I need to take?
Thank you.

They made a mistake and so now they want to give the interview. Just

Attending the interview might be a good start.

You can go to uscis.gov and make an InfoPass appointment to go to your local office and talk to someone in person.
Getting called for biometrics and an interview after your Green Card is not normal.

Go speak to someone in person, do not waste your time on the 1-800 phone number. Go in person before your interview appointment.

Don't do that. Infopass officer will ask for your Gc and seize it.

USCIS messed it up. Let them sort it out.

Hi:

There is a possiblity that the green card was issued by mistake! You might want to make an infopass appointment -- or just attend the interview and see then what happened.

Thank you guys,
Do u think USCIS still have to do the interview as if the GC has not
been issued?

Hi:

I often tell clients that they are NOT to treat the plastic card as equivalent to LPR status. This works two ways -- not having the card doesn't mean you don't have the status and conversely, it is possible to have a card which you are not entitled to.

The normal and proper procedure is to have the AOS interview BEFORE the GC
can be issued.
There is certainly something wrong in a case when a GC is issued before an
AOS interview is required!

Thank you for posting this valuable reminder. This morning I remembered reading of someone who applied for N400 and found out that his LPR date was very wrong on his Green Card, and he had not been an LPR for as long as he thought.
N-400 denied, sent to the back of the line. USCIS told him it was his job to know when his LPR started, even tho all paperwork he had indicated the 'wrong' date.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Read this with interest and wanted to throw an additional question out there... Are all GC applicants called for an AOS interview as a matter of routine? I know a couple of people in my company who got their GCs recently with no interview.

employment-based AOS folk are usually not interviewed.

marriage-based usually are. Unless their case gets transferred to CSC for premium processing...
