Well, if you read step 3 on the DS-156, you will note that your interview
date is dependant upon return of it. I think you only need to send one
copy. But, I would check all the appropriate boxes of what docs need to get
(that apply to your fiance) and send it in immediately as well. Then you
can still get the needed docs by the interview date. I actually have
already informed my fiance of the docs she will need, listed on DS-156, and
she will already have them by the time she finally gets her P3.

Hope this helps.

I have just recently filled out the forms for the London Embassy. They needed me to fill out and return the DS-230, DS-156 in duplicate, DS-156K, and the document checklist. They ask that you bring the supporting documents (birth certificate, police certificate, etc) along to your interview, along with a photocopy of each. Don't know why they need two DS-156's -- just do it!

I know things can vary between different embassies, if you are still unsure you could email or phone the embassy in Vienna.

Good luck

I have only ever heard of one copy of the DS156...but if they sent you two
you might as well fill out and send in both just to be safe. I would send
the DS230 & both DS156 docs immediately. They do not want you to send the
other docs that yet, the DS156 has listsed for you to obtain. It does not
explicitly ask for the DS156K, so I would probably call the consulate to ask
for sure whether you need to send it back with the DS156, or keep it for the
interview (I assume keep it).

Brian,

Debbie gave the best advice.

Some consulates want 2 copies of the DS-156. Some consulates do not want the DS-156 and other forms and documents in advance of the interview.

Each consulate has it's own procedures, what people experienced at other consulates may not apply to your consulate. Follow the procedure outlined in the Packet #3 you receive from Vienna, call or e-mail Vienna if it's not clear to you what they want.

.........and if the form instructs her not to sign it, don't sign!!! I believe this is the the case for the 2 DS156 forms. She will have to sign those in front of the officer at the Embassy.

it tells you exactly what to send back, only send those, but take with you all the documents they have sent, and if they ask you for them at the interview you can then produce them.

i sent back exactly what they asked for and nothing else...i think i didnt have to send the 156k at all, and they never asked for it at the interview either.
just read what it says to send, and only send those, if in doubt, either call or e-mail the embassy, they will let you know fairly quickly
