Default 2nd marriage greencard

Hello All,

What a great forum!!

I am a naturalized US citizen. I got my citizenship a year and a half ago through my first wife. Unfortunately my first marriage ended in divorce. I am currently happily engaged.

If I marry my fiancé would she be able to apply for a green card based on my 1.5 year old citizenship. Do I need to be a naturalized citizen for at least 3 years for her to be able to apply?

I got divorced 12 months ago.

Thanks for the help,

paulnetter

The 3 year thing is a total myth. You were eligible to file for her on the day your divorce was final. Good luck to you both.

Wow even planning couldn't have achieved such great results in timing.

Where is your future wife now? Here in the States? In her own country? If here in the States on what status and how did she enter. Just because you are eligible to apply for her does not necessarily mean she is able to adjust status.
