Default 129F Help

Hello!

I am going to file the 129F for my fiance. I am living in Thailand
now, my fiance is from the Philippines and we are living together
here. Ok, I hope that helps. In filing the I-129F, can I use my
address here in Thailand or do I need an address in the US? Using an
address in the US means using family addresses and trusting things to
family members, not always a good idea. I can't find anything about
not using a foreign address on the 129F form instructions or anywhere
on the web.

Thanks in advance,
Gregory

Greg,

How long have you been in Thailand, what are you doing there (work or 'play'), and perhaps most important what kind of visa are you on?

If you are eligible, you might want to consider marrying your fiancee and file an I-130 petition with the consulate (DCF).

One of the three USCIS international district offices is in Bangkok, near the embassy on Thanon Wittayu. You might want to check there to see if you qualify for DCF.

Regards, JEff

Thanks Jeff,

can't do a dcf unless I get married first which a chore in and of
itself. My fiance would have to travel back to Manila, spend a week
getting all of her paperwork together, including standing in long
lines at at least three different offices just to be able to go to the
embassy in Bangkok to get permission to get married in Thailand. It
is a joke. So we decided the two options are to get married in the
Philippines which requires a three week stay which would preclude me
for meeting the residencies requirements for Thailand when I got
back(no dcf and an even longer wait!) or just do the fiance visa.

The visa officer in Bangkok said living in Thailand at the time of
filing it would present no problems on their end, my only concern is
INS in the US, do I have to use a US address?

Thanks,
Greg

Given the wait time for most Service Centers, The week wait in the
Philippines looks like the fastest thing around for DCF in Thailand.

Unless your address in the US is in the Vermont Region you are looking at
least 5 months. and that is just for approval. Then there is the two or
three months waiting for an interview. If that succeeds then there is the
security check. That is if you can do I-129F while out of the country.

In short, It is all a cluster of fornication. Sorry, but I been there and
done that. It is a nerve wracking task at best.
You might reconsider your options while you are there.

No matter what Good Luck, and best wishes.

Greg,

You might want to have a consultation with Bill White, [email protected], http://www.usvisalaw.info. I am sure he can answer the questions you have and the questions you have not yet thought about, and give you some suggestions based on your unusual situation.

Regards, JEff
