wow , my own thread.

I'd just like to point out that my husband is the Star Wars fan. I can take it or leave it.

He's the one with the stormtrooper keyring :)

So they don't let you fly Millenium Falcons then.

My worst Star Wars fears have been realized. Having just seen this trailer, I cannot see how this new trilogy will ever be something more than a rehash of the originals with a few new characters to drag on previous conflicts.

Why,oh why,are we seeing Storm troopers 30 years after the Rebel victory? And is there a reason other than for nostalgia sake that we are shown the planet of Tatooine again? Why would Luke, who hated it there, ever want to settle in the sand ball? Leia & Han have no connection to the place either, can't see them potentially raising children there... Also...Endor.does.not.have.snow.ever.

I will say that the cross-shaped lightsaber looks intriguing though. Could the cross form be a symbol of death & resurrection, hinting at the 'late' Darth Plagueis' abilities to resurrect/keep people from dying? Maybe our dear old Palpatine has not actually disposed of his master... Plagueis would be a fine villain I think.

Despite being a huge SW fan, I was really weary to hear George Lucas sell the franchise to The Mouse and their announcement of the sequel trilogy. IMHO, the story is complete as is, no need to stretch the grand plot into three more movies. The narration of the trailer is a bit too overdramatic/modern for my taste and enhances my feeling of foredooming. Ah well, I suppose I'll have to wait 12 more months to deliver my final verdict. Happy speculation, folks:)

I think it looks great. At the end of the day, Star Wars is for kids (say 7 up) but of course can be appreciated by adults too. A new trilogy will cater to a new generation.

Being of a vintage that allowed me to see the SW.IV at a movie theatre (!) I initially dismissed the second trilogy as overly-commercial, but now having watched it a number of times, I prefer it to the first.

I have read that this new trilogy will favour cameras and models and less CGI in a return to the feel of the first films. In any case, it looks interesting and fun. Not sure about the cross shaped light sabre, am wondering if they are going to intertwine some Christian mythology into that. That would be very cool.
