Re: Is your tree up yet?
How funny that something as simple as Bread Sauce seems to feature on all of our wish lists! Christmas without Bread Sauce...and of course a Brussel Sprout would just not be Christmas.

Our good memories tree is up - finally !
Quite a bit different to usual as we've gone for tall and skinny & real this year. Also, I haven't risked my older glass decorations.
1 - semi tame kitten about the place
2 - need to be able to make it 'quake proof.
Not my usual style at all but it will do.

I love the little British guardsman, I wouldn't say 100% though that it is naughty kitten or quake proof though, wise re glass ornaments. Is the shape typical of a Southern Hemisphere Christmas tree?

Re: Is your tree up yet?
I rediscovered Christmas when my son was born and have quite enjoyed it since.
Lights
Bread Sauce
Turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sarnie's on boxing day
Bloody Mary's
Opening silly stocking presents in my pajamas, said bloody mary in hand
Christmas Fireplace Log Fire (we have it on the big screen as we can't have a real fire)
Christmas songs playing (a specific CD set I have)
Pulling crackers and wearing silly hats, then telling the awful jokes
Spending it with my son.

Vodka
More Vodka
Tomato Juice
Dash of Lee and Perrins
Lemon or Lime wedge / juice
Black Pepper
Pinch of Celery Salt
A drop or 2 of Tabasco to taste
Over ice
Perfect.

I don't like apple sauce with pork either. Does that count as a hat trick?
I was in Superstore on Thursday and remembered I had to try their yorkshires, but I was at the far end by the frozen foods. I believe they store it by the desserts - pudding, dontcha know - and that was right up the other end.

I do like cranberry sauce with Turkey though.
Sometimes with, sometimes without.
I had already returned to that end having noticed the date on some pate didn't go far enough ahead.
Too far away from xmas day. I only buy about 8 of them
- Like trashing nice lamb with mint sauce --yeuch
The exercise getting the puds would have burned off the calories so you could eat them!

Re: Is your tree up yet?
I am assuming that you might be thinking of the much revered Brussel Sprout? That without which my country would not be great...I think ....It wouldn't be any sort of festivity without them....I have been known in other parts to drive 50 Kms in many directions to ensure we have them! It's not Christmas without Sprouts and No, don't ask me why not...neither my son, or Husband eat them

The best way to prepare sprouts should always be on in my case a Friday. Open the bag, check contents, confirm that they are indeed the Devils food, close bag, put in already filled large black plastic bag, firmly tie the top. Open the door, put in the dustbin. Thankfully it is Friday and the bin men will be round to dispose of them safely and appropriately

Re: Is your tree up yet?
Having dispatched the Mrs & kids into the woods with their Uncle Mark yesterday we got our normal too-damn-big-needs-bits-cutting-off-the-top-and-bottom tree which we duly trimmed tonight. Jingle Bells.
