Default You learn something every day

Urns with human ashes from Germany wash up on Dutch beaches

I know those beaches, especially Katwijk.
Strict rules apply in Germany to the handling of deceased person’s remains...it is forbidden to keep ashes in the garden or inside the home
I never knew that. I googled and it appears to be correct although there are moves to bring Germany into line with the rest of Europe.

wonder what the purpose of that law is? Ashes from cremated humans pose no threat to health or the public from what I understand,.

Something to do with 'the church' not liking cremation so it was kind of a compromise. The urns took up less space and made it cheaper but 'the church' still wanted them buried. Apparently you could get 4 to a grave.

a penny urned..
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust,
If the whiskey didn't get 'im,
The women must've.
