You can still get the Be-Ro Cookbook if you live in the UK.

http://www.be-ro.com/f_about.htm

I have the 34th edition printed in 1975 (I think).

It's been scanned into PDF format.;)

My mum gave me the old brown Bero cookery book as seen in the pic...it must be about 60+ years old now.

Hi,
I have been trying to find the perfect recipe for Yorkshire Pudding since moving here, I do occasionally get success and they rise..... but recently not!:(
Would any of you share your recipe using all purpose flour, I am sure it is down to the flour (thats my excuse!)

Thankyou very much.

How's this for a yorkshire pudding!

WOW! Now that is a yorkshire and a half! My husband wants to know why he never gets them like that - I told him its because Aunt Bessie doesn't make them that big :D:rofl:

I'm off to have a look at that be-ro book now  :p

POURING BATTER

100g plain flour
pinch salt
1 egg
250ml milk
50g lard

1.mix flour and salt in a basin, make a hollow in the centre and drop in egg
2.stir with wooden spoon and add liquid gradually until all the flour is worked in
3.beat well and add remaining liquid

YORKSHIRE PUD

Pouring Batter
15g lard

1.melt lard in shallow dripping tin or small tins, place in preheated oven until haze appears.
2.pour all the batter into a large tin or half fill small tins
3.bake in a hot oven 230 c 450 f for about 30mins for a large pud 20 mins for small ones

This is the recipe from the Be-Ro 38th edition like your mom used to make, I use it all the time for cakes and pies and they are great, lard rules!
