Would it be
Cheaper for my Mum to buy her spirits in Manchester's duty free or in the cheapest liquor store I can find in Red Deer?
I have no idea what spirits cost anywhere other than the bar;) |

Re: Would it be
How much is she planning on drinking when she is visiting? We've found duty free cheaper than the Canadian liquor store when we visit the in-laws.

She has asked me to get a bottle of whiskey a bottle of vodka and a bottle of gin a box or two of red, white and rose wine (to start with) Yes she does have a bit of a problem:(, the whiskey will be for my Stepdad. |
Re: Would it be
I decided that the difference in price wasn't worth the hassle of buying duty free. Have done for a long time. All that clanking of bags, wrestling with coats, purses, boarding passes. Nah.
A litre of gin was around 14GPB, and far too bloody strong for normal use. A litre in LCBO is usually around $36. So a saving of $12ish for duty free and a much drunker mother per drink ratio. |

The solution is rather simple is it not? Check prices of spirits at local Red Deer liquor stores. Convert to pounds and provide to mother. Tell her to go to the duty free at Manchester and if the spirits cost less than the prices given, pick up the booze she wants. Sorted.;)
Remember to allow for different bottle sizes e.g. 1 litre in the duty free, 40oz, 750cl or whatever in the licquor store. |
