Re: Words that are hard to spell...
What about any techniques for remembering the way to spell difficult words.
Beautiful. I recall as a child remembering the order of the vowels by saying to myself Bee - A (as in cat) - OO (but knowing it was a u) and then tiful.
Mississippi. double s - double s - double p.

For beautiful, same as you describe, otherwise I am bound to misspell it.
For airport codes. Sacramento is SMF so smurf would help people remember it.
New Orleans is MSY so Missy
Orlando is MCO, so Mickey Company.
Canadians ones were hard with the YYZ, YVR, YXX and so on.

Of course if the patient misreads it they probably think you're sending them to a gym to do some bouncing.

Reason for asking is that mine are computer generated with a spell check, this likely avoids mistakes
Do not trust your pharmacist ever, check your prescription, ask if its correct, does it mix with whatever else it is that you take, what its for etc etc

Good advice, but also Google it and see for yourself if it is a drug for treating whatever condition you have. Does the typical dose range match what you have been prescribed? If you have questions ask your pharmacist and/or doctor.

agree, though many folks 'young or old' do not have a computer, not knowing what to ask or question - are at the mercy to whatever is prescribed, 'too little too late'
More Doctor, pharmacist to patient care & communication is needed

Are prescriptions still hand written?

Yep, not a bad thing to do, errors do occur by us and the pharmacy

I sympathize with those who don't have easy access to the the internet to do some rudimentary checking.

Our pharmacy picks up interaction issues and the like very well.
My wife was prescribed that for her fibromyalgia.
Our prescriptions - family doc - are all handwritten.
We always looked up new meds as they were prescribed for information purposes and also to see if on the formulary.
But the pharmacy always gives a drug specific info sheet whenever there's a new one prescribed. They also come for a chat when dispensing it first time.
Is this not a normal pharmacy service for other people then?

Only time I get handwritten is if I went to the walk in clinic.
I learned about 8 years never to trust the pharmacy. Had went to pick up the pills and got to the car and looked at them and they were a little round tablet
Mine are largish maroon capsules so big difference.
Label was correct but the pills were not. They even tried to argue with me that it was correct and no way they could have made an error.
Pull was some sort of heart medication, which I have never needed or taken.
I finally got the correct pills but man did they not want to admit they made an error. Even tried to place the blame on me.
