Words of 2020

Was joking with my wife last night about what the familiar "review of the year" TV shows might be like this year  "January, February... oh look at what we thought was significant, how cute!!"

Then we discussed what words we would not have recognised back in January or February, and there are plenty to choose from. What's your choice for the Word(s) of the Year 2020?

That's interesting, but I'm from the engineering industry and PPE has been an everyday term my whole career.

There's plenty to choose from out there FL, so I'm afraid I'm not letting PPE in. Try again!

"China virus". Inaccurate and pejorative, but far too common in American political discourse this year.

Excuse moi I refer you BE posters to post #7

“Lockdown” has been named word of the year by Collins Dictionary in its annual list.

Do I get a prize or anything?

Probably the best example so far. A non-technical word which we knew, but rarely used.

For the first time, the Oxford English Dictionary has chosen not to name a word of the year, describing 2020 as “a year which cannot be neatly accommodated in one single word”
