On woot......

I hadn't heard the term before. So I looked it up. Boy, there's some nerds here!

Re: On woot......

I remeber an article when the word was voted as a cool new word / or word of the year whatever the hell it was on the yahoo homepage, and there ensued a godalmighty row between all the techy bods debating its meaning, origin and use.

All I could think of was get a life, its a made up word!

Holy $hit.

I thought the word was nothing more than some sort of strange Geordie exhortation.

Now I find it has nerd association. I may have to reconsider my offer to have a beer with Novo. He may have elastoplast on his specs.

Don't blame me. Norks started it in the Hire Immigrants thread.

OK. I have revisited the source and found you to be innocent, if exceeding your daily limit, w00t-wise.

I am now somewhat worried about Norks. Anoraknophobic as I am.

In what way... nothing to hang a w00t on....

I am happy to report that I am indeed something of a geek. Apart from missing the following essential items of geek equipment

1. Dungeons and Dragons Gameboard
2. Computer fan replacement abilities
3. Collection of the complete works of Isaac Asimov
4. Any adult comic
5. A room full of odd bits of electrical wire.

However I do own the following

1. Soldering Iron

And I can perform the following geek related tasks correctly...

1. Use proxy surver to surf internet sites banned at work
2. Do a "whois" to find out who owns a particular web domain
3. Strip down and clean my DSLR camera

So I guess the jury is hung on my geekiness...

I have been known to woot, and sometimes woot woot has been appropriate.

I have no signs of geekness, apart from a fondness for Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Re: On woot......

I take issue with the word w00t being nerdy. I am no way a nerd but enjoyed the random killing and destruction associated with online gaming for a while.

I confess to not using the word much personally, as when ever good "l00t" was to be had, and people yelled "w00t!", I had normally missed ,it so my response was more likely to be " what? where?"

Sorry, but after practicing intensely for two days, I still take issue with the word w00t being a word at all.

Nevermind illegal downloading, I wonder if there's a way ISPs can block people from the internet every time they use that stupid word 'w00....'

*disconnected*
