Damp and drizzly here in the Banana Belt but no sign of snow.

Grass still green. Trees only halfway through shedding leaves. Begonias in the hanging baskets looking a little beat up but still hanging on.

Booked the flight and the condo rentals in Panama from the end of this month until the beginning of April.

We hate winter.

The last two mornings I got up to 63 and yesterday went to 70(21) by late afternoon but today it stayed at 63.

63/64 is cold in the morning but okay if you know it will get warmer soon.
What is this fahrenheit of which you speak? Our house heating wise is at 21 and 18 based on different times of the day but AC wise we have it at 25 c when we have it on. Don't you find 22 for AC seems cold?..and on a lot?

This is the puzzle isn't it. If 68/20 is generally okay in winter, why would 72/22 feel too cold in Summer?

It's not "on" just because it's set to 72/22. I tend not to turn it on unless the temperature gets above 76. So above 72 is still okay and no AC used.

Sometimes it's very much geared to being able to sleep at night though. Often the intention is to bring the temperature down and then turn it off with the house remaining cool. Or not hot

Yes, but don't tell anyone and you can rent the spare bedroom when the snow gets too deep.

Up to six inches of snow here by morning, apparently.

Where's this Global Warming we were promised?

Seattle appears to be getting hit by winter today.

One airline we handle cancelled all their flights between Seattle and Vancouver and the other airline is running flights but hours late.

Not bad in Vancouver here chilly but no snow ice or winds.

In Calgary we have had two days of snow and not a sign of a snow plough, just brown snow constantly being churned on the roads, two days and they have only put grit down. No wonder the city is grinding to a halt, so many two wheeled cars going nowhere on the hills. I drive a fj cruiser and that in 4wd on winter tyres was sliding all over the road.

I think this is the worst I have seen the roads in Calgary.

Here they call them motorcycles. We don't see many of them in the winter.

They have a new invention in Red Deer called roundabouts, it's quite stunning how few people know how to use these new fangled things, what is even more stunning is the complete lack of snow and ice prevention they are receiving. If I get through this winter unscathed I will be very pleasantly surprised.

A couple have been introduced here too but without the expected problems.

I suspect people rerouted their journey to avoid them although it could just be the general lack of traffic.

Yes we had a big roundabout famously installed the summer before last, it continues to be chaos, I've never seen a more nervous looking bunch attempting to use it,I can't see why it gets 'em in such a tangle...thank heavens we have even less traffic than Bristol

Oh I've seen all sorts, people stopping to let others on, cars have been crushed by the heavy haulers making the turn, people going the wrong way, people just pulling onto it and now we add snow and ice I have to navigate it later, I am avoiding going out as it's still snowing but we need to eat, wish me luck!
