My gorgeous view of Pike Place Market and Elliott Bay today. |
Re: Wildfires 2020
I just wish the apartment place would turn off the vent system in the common hallways, it just a fan that sucks in outdoor air, its filling the hall with smoke smell and likely not helping the air quality inside the apartment, I did put a wet towel at the bottom of the front door.
Not sure what else can be done to try and keep the indoor air decent. I just can't imagine bringing in outdoor air into the hallways is helping. |
Re: Wildfires 2020
Vancouver area seems to be doing a tad better, looking at the air quality map the PM2.5 is running 150-172 depending on area according to the provincial website.
Kelowna is pretty bad now PM2.5 (1h): 292.1 µg/m3 |

Re: Wildfires 2020
If you want to see see the PM2.5 readings which is apparently the biggest issue with this smoke, this link has it, just choose the dot closest to you, and click the PM2.5 tab, gives more accurate and specific readings beyond just the basic AQHI score.
Current PM2.5 Data - BC Air Quality - Province of British Columbia Vancouver and Fraser Valley have too many stations to do them all, but they are sitting anywhere from 68 in South Abbotsford to a high of 213 in Hope, with most of Metro Vancouver in the 97 to 170 range, seems the more southern areas of the lower mainland have slightly better readings at the moment, North Vancouver has the worst. Need to get up towards Williams Lake to get some good air quality.
Penticton
Kelowna
Kamloops-
They base the PM2.5 over a 24 hour period, so 24 hour period is most important, 1 hour with a high reading no so bad, 24 hours with high readings (or several days in our case currently) not good. Kelowna 24 hour average is 261 so we are in the hazardous range, no wonder my lungs are having a fit..... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...99b0198c5c.png |
