Re: The Whisky Thread
My daughter bought me a bottle of Connemara and it was very nice indeed. As was the bottle of Shackleton I was recently given as well.

Re: The Whisky Thread
You would have to really like whisky to justify that outlay. The green label was about £40 I think but it was worth the money. £40 is probably my threshold though - anything above that would probably need approval from the board.

The blue is definitely a step too far for me also, especially when I can get plenty of whiskies that I enjoy for far less.

Re: The Whisky Thread
I’m hoping this thread has just answered my prayers...
I brought a bottle of Edradour 10 year for my boyfriend earlier this year - he loves whiskey but I do not, however I have previously been to the distillery in Scotland and all my family, ex boyfriend and his family loved it so I thought I would introduce him to something different.
I want to get him another bottle for Xmas but I cannot justify the $84 price for it in BC Liquor stores right now so I was wondering if there is any recommendations from you whiskey enthusiasts for something similar but slightly cheaper?

Re: The Whisky Thread
Saw this in passing.
I get free wine and spirits with work, so have a growing collection of unopened bottles (not the biggest drinker going). One of the more recent additions is the Canadian Pike Creek (aged in vintage port barrels).
Anyone know of this one?

If you are ever visiting SA I'd certainly share - think my neighbours are fed up with me trying to give them bottles all the time

Balvenie is a good call from AC if the price is right, although no idea how similar it is to Edradour. If you can stretch to the Balvenie Port wood, this is particularly good.
I hope my wife is taking hints if she reads this...

You may struggle to find many people who have tried Edradour. It certainly is not a main stream single malt. I like my whisky but had never heard of it.

They do in Alberta. I don't know about others provinces. Their Balvenie is way cheaper than the cost of it other liquor stores. IIRC, the only have one choice for Balvenie, they also stock Glenlivet, Glenmorangie and Macallan too . If you go to another store, you may wish to look at other selections.
