I do wonder where "effing the dog" came from though. I say it from time to time. I sat around and F-ed the dog all day yesterday.

As someone still in UK, I get comments from my use of 'sure' - clearly too many holidays in North America & am easily influenced.

I should explain 'F-ed the dog' to my colleagues too, then they might be thankful my americanisms are restricted to 'sure'

My accent Scottish is often mistaken as being German. I also have blonde hair (majorly dyed...no idea what colour it actually is.) so apparently look a bit german!?!
When we went to Vancouver, I was asked it quite a lot. It was nice that they were interested. Sorry for confusing you!!

I often get the "What part of Austrailia are you from?" To which I sometimes reply Hammersmith".

"Sure" is just a sincere "yes". When it's spoken with a different intonation (suuuuuuuuure), it could be sarcastic. But "sure" is often just a synonym for yes in Canada.

Never heard that one... maybe it's local to a certain area. My first thought is Newfoundland, seems like something they'd say.

That drives me crazy! We don't all speak like that, some of us actually pronounce the H.

Sure = yes (pretty much always as far as I can tell).
I would have been amused by your response as well as it seems so obvious to me!

Ahh... I get it now.

Yes, I'm guilty of saying brutal too. I didn't think I pronounced it with a D but now that I listen to myself maybe I do!
