Whats the main thing about Canada that you just can't get used to
driving along a highway (unlit) at night and always being on edge that something can / will run out in front of you without any warning whatsoever, feeling multiplied by 10 in the winter when the roads are slippy.

The beginning of mating season for many of the critters. They will be on the move more than usual for the next 6 weeks or so.

The way the road lane markings seem to disappear when the road is wet, especially at night .... oh yes, and when it snows of course!

Different method of marking the road I think, at least out this way. Paint in Canada, but a thick glutinous material which is raised above road level in the UK.

The sexism. Even after thirty years here I find it disconcerting to visit Canadians and find the women treated in a way that would have my Mother muttering about not having had to do that since the war.
