True, true! I don't possess the qualities or genes (or jeans!) to be English.

BTW, one of my favourite books, ever, is 'The Shining' by Stephen King - freaked the bajaysus out of me! Way spooookier than the film! I can't stay in hotel without thinking about it.

Another great read if you are interested in Aspergers/Autism is 'The curious incident of the dog in the night time' by Mark Haddon

I'm reading this: http://www.amazon.com/Powder-War-Tem.../dp/0345481305
It's the third in a trilogy combining dragon lore (a la Anne McCaffrey) with the Napoleonic Wars. Interesting slant by Naomi Novik.

[QUOTE=hot wasabi peas]Well I dragged myself out to the bookstore (have a cold) and saw this... I had to buy it cos Dracula is sexy,
Oh he is isn't he??? I'm a bit sad in that i've been a Drac fan since I was a wee nipper (pardon the pun )
Oh, and give the book the first couple of chapters to get into then I'll be amazed if you can put it down

Oh, if you want a particularly brilliant but possibly disturbing (depending how objective you can be about real life murder cases) The Jigsaw Man by Paul Britton.
It's an absolutely fascinating insight into how the police use psychological profiling to aid them with catching their killers - the stories are all real and it's the same man in each of them and you see how he does what he does.
For some light hearted stuff you could try either of the Grumpy Old Men books or 'Is it just me or is everything sh**' by Alan McArthur - the bit about Gillian McKeith has me practically wetting myself laughing or Life According to Clarkson is very funny too.
Carnivale (with the E) is a great book if you like your history mixed with fiction - set in Rennaisance Italy a young female artist meets Lord Byron and Casinova and all sorts of things in between - a bit long winded but beautifully written and described using an artists pallet of colours
One of my all time faves is The Day of the Jackal - awesome book (crap film!!)
ok, I should stop now
