Or hung laundry to dry on a line in Calgary! Or had an unbounded cat frolicking on unowned lawns?

Do cats frolic?

Then they can still gambol, though weakly.

My cat has seen the business end of a veterinary scalpel, and he can frolic with the best of them. In fact, he would be disgusted to be thought a mere gamboler.

Given that the cat in question favours the frolicsome head butt, we might consider him a Glasgae Gamboler.

Well, he does have Scottish, Italian, N.Irish roots after all. It's no accident that he drinks out of a plastic container.

Why would you be taking someone`s life away from them?

Because he was illegally working, if I had done anything he would probably be deported.

They may have a little less money in their pocket and the government may have a little more money to spend on educating little ones, building infrastructure, ensuring the population`s health is looked after etc.
Oh I agree, if it was as simple as him starting to pay tax he totally should. However he had been breaking the law for over 10 years as an illegal foreign worker. I doubt he could just start paying and everything would be fine.

I take it you also believe it is OK for people to cheat the government out of benefits etc or is it just OK to not pay the government its due but not OK to actually take money from it (despite the fact that the net result is the same).
No.

It doesn't matter if it's $10 or $10 million - if 2 people are willing and able to make a transaction without any paperwork, it should be nobody's business but theirs.

No.

All noted. Your post didn`t make explicit reference to the fact that he was an illegal immigrant (although I accept it was implicit).

I thought it was purely a response to the cash in hand aspect.

Thank you for the clarification.

I disagree and I really don`t believe that you are advocationg for employers to employ people totally off the books without the payment of taxes etc. As I am sure you are aware, this would be relatively simple for those with money to achieve.

If you have the money to pay for the best lawyers and accountants, you can pretty much get away with most things. :p

I agree. I am just glad that the majority of the posters on here believe it is OK. It looks like my profession is good for society and that I shouldn`t expect to be spat on ever again.:p
