They probably feel persecuted! Particularly if they read the Daily Mail!

You must have been drunk when you wrote this then

"I used to feel a little apprehensive about moving back because Britain seemed like an unknown. But with the bullshit I've gone through in this country and most of it is down to the country, the people and it's ridiculous pettiness, its stepford wives like people and attitude, its pathetic salaries and gigantic cost of living, Britain simply does not compare. I've completely exhausted all reasons to stay.

I post this is in part to vent publicly but mostly because I wish I'd read a post like this prior to moving out. I'm not going to publicly discuss my reasons but if you are considering moving then you might want to PM me.

I believe Canada is a terrible place to bring up kids. It's a country of people who escape responsibility. A country where they think they have a better education system by letting kids stay at home half their childhood. A country where customer service and good business practice simply do not exist.

This is a poor country whose only liberation is that it's so far behind every other country it plays poor relation to, that it manages to keep its head above water by playing catch up. It's no coincidence that all successful Canadians seem to have moved away. It's a country of "I'll just wait" attitude. Or "What's the USA doing, we'll copy them".

I'm moving back before this place finally finishes me off. I unfortunately have almost no happy memories here. And unlike many my move here was after 5 years of careful research and planning, not running away from bailiffs or a debt like some people. PM me with any questions. Otherwise good luck because you're going to bloody well need it."

Having read all of the above, I can't see where CC actually said "Canada is crap".

When you post global statements like those in red, they READ like you are attributing those characteristics to everyone who is Canadian, and as such they tend to get some readers' backs up.

So being Canadian, should I understand from the way you write, that you think me to be petty, with a Stepford Wife attitude? Should I take it from your post that Canada is a terrible place for MY kids to be brought up, and that they spend half their lives at home, instead of getting a good education? That this is a poor country trying to play catch up?

You elicited many of the negative reposnses you got from the way you framed your post - it came across, to me, as accusatory and blaming.

If that is how you communicate in life in general then many of your experiences are going to reflect that attitude. Though, to be fair, I don't know if you do relate to people like that on a daily basis. But we often reap what we sow on forums.

I think this forum would be much more polite if we all had our real names visible.

I know I am far more restrained in my use of colorful language, cutting jibes, and general insults than if I were not totally identifiable.

Its very easy to hide behind a "nom de plume" or with some of you "a nom de guerre" - :p

It seems the right thing to do under the circumstances. Being destitute here where I have no family and few friends and connections for me is worse than Britain where I have these. They may not be perfect but they exist.

But I probably want to move back to Britain as little as anyone. It's just my options have run out. And I know I'm unlikely to ever return. I'm as thick skinned as anyone but in a crisis here, one that I have been battling for years.

Canada is a massive country, have you discounted a move elsewhere in the nation?

he may as well have. Still amounts to the same thing. One thing to be constructive, something else to be bitter. Imagine a holiday review of somewhere: "It's crap, don't go, trust me, you won't like it."

May as well have and did are two completely different actions - he may have expressed how he feels but he did not say "Canada is crap". He has said positives and negatives about Canada.

Anyway I think that it is worth pointing out that the OP was about "What sucks on this forum? and it has drifted off subject to be have a go at CC - can we go back to the OP and actually discuss if the Forum sucks or not.

Strange as it may seem, if I hung around on this forum merely to sell myself I would have given up long ago, as so many do, as the time/return ratio is so small as to be virtually non-existent.

I do my best to give good real estate advice to anyone on here, no matter their Province or Country, because it lets me contribute to the forums in an area where I have expert knowledge, and I enjoy it (most of the time, though I find the continual snipping becomes ever more tiresome).

So I suppose thats something that sucks about this forum, despite all the good advice I have given over the last few years on these forums, I continually have to defend my choice of career.
