I love her to bits and I call her my baby-girl....but she is definitely the cause of my high stress levels! Watch this space....I'll be posting for parental advice for her soon

She knows exactly how to push your buttons.....I learnt along time ago that her screams & crying can be turned on and off like a tap.

I have watch through the crack of the door as her brother has passed her and she has screamed that he hit or pinch her .... she can lie for England & Canada combined.
She has long since been able to look you straight in the eyes and 'pinky swear' that she is telling the truth.....then a couple of weeks later you find out different!!! she is so good at it!

I wish she would teach me.....I couldn't lie to someone face to save my life!!!

I am so looking forward to her teens....NOT

Oh wow, I can see you and I comparing our daughter's traits for years to come

Yes my "G" has told some stories herself and I have believed them. Here in Red Deer (first time round) she once told me that when she went round to call for her friend a man pulled up outside the door and was watching her, so she decided to walk back home but the man grabbed her arm.........this later turned out to be totally exaggerated beyond all proportions!! It was merely a man who parked up outside her friend's house and popped in there to visit!! That is just one example.....talk about the boy who cried wolf! I take all her stories with a pinch of salt, but one day she could really be telling me the truth. She's an out-right attention seeker and Diva......a woman trapped in a 9 year olds body

Mine has no fear of anything or anyone......

She even challenged her teacher last year......telling me that she didn't need to listen to her as she wasn't even her mom!!!

I'm off to West Ed Mall with her now....catch you later!

First off - Congrats Linda - sorry, a bit late to this thread - but well done on the house purchase and I hope you'll all be very happy there.

And secondly, when you and Ruby get together to talk about awkward daughters, can I come too??. My 6 year old (7 in a couple of weeks, but going on 14, with a smart arse answer for everything) sounds so similar ! :)

Problem is, it would run and run - and soon rival the Bar thread !!! :p

(Speaking of which, I ought to go in there sometime, dip my toe, so to speak - and order a very large one ...)

We looked at houses here again last weekend and I could cry at what they're asking for them.:(
I'm glad that you've decided to stay in Alberta too....a move to another province might seem like a great and rational idea but there is so much involved and it's just another risk.....not like you're relocating from Manchester to Nottingham when you weigh up the distance factor!
I've told Warren (my OH) that I really don't want to leave Alberta and if we can get on the property ladder here then we'll be different people all together.....even if it means buying in a small town out of Red Deer.
Just need to land that permanent job first to get the needed mortgage advice

Well done to you all,
Jaycee

just read your post.
i have been offered a job in Ed but as I have to take my finals again the offer is for 12 months but renwable. Does this mean we will not be able to buy a house even though we will have a good wad(hopefully, with the rate going up) to put down. How do they know if you have a permanent offer or do they ask to see your contract?

Hi Linda!! Congrats on the house purchase in Sherwood!! I hope you and your family will be very happy in your new home!
We just bought a house in a VERY small town called Wabamun, just past spruce grove and stony plain! We got the keys on 12th jan but we are not moving in until 30th, lots of jobs to do but we dont mind as the house was so cheap, half what we were expecting to pay! Cant wait to move in, only a week to go!!!! So Excited! Can finally see things coming together!

When we came out here in 2003, we had a pretty good wedge to put down on a house. OH had only just started his job but the company provided a letter stating that his position was full-time permanent. I didn't work at all at that time. Because we didn't have any credit rating, it was in our best interests to put down 25% and were accepted for a mortgage.

Hi

My husbands main base is in Edmonton on 181 st, he has timed it at several different times of the day from and to Wabamun and it takes about 35 - 40 mins. Husband doesnt mind doing this as he used to drive at least an hour to work in UK so used to it and it is just one straight road. We would rather do that and live out of the city as do not like living in the city.

We have finally got a house............

It came on the market last Monday afternoon.....viewed it on Tuesday morning and by 2.30pm on Tuesday they had already had two offers - ours was accepted !!!!

Arranged our mortgage with RBC.... got 5.2% fixed for 5 years

Had our inspection on Sunday....boy he was thorough...he even wanted to know what plants were under the snow!!!! he really knew his stuff, it took 3.5 hours and he grilled the owners about everything.

We were very pleased when he told us they had looked after the property and it had been finished to a high standard.....what a relief.

So last night the two conditions were removed and we have gone 'SOLD'..... we get the keys 15th March.

So we are off to Sherwood Park , and it's all R2D2 fault :p

We are off to see the children's new school today, I am so nervous, the school they are in is great and they are doing so well. I do feel very guilty making them move...but what can we do, the house prices in this area are so expensive!

We love Sherwood Park, it has a great feel to it, and everyone tells us it's a wonderful place to raise a family.

We have a wonderful realtor, she is a very genuine person, and we really trust her. She has always been just a call away. Very easy to deal with.
So if anyone wants her name please PM me.........and I am more than happy to recommend her.

Linda

hi Linda, wondering if you could tell us what living in Sherwood Park is like, now you have settled in
Many thanks
