Don't often make the front page of the BBC - guess Steve is just preparing himself as the thanksgiving turkey.

Aren't they all???

Oh did anyone see 'This Hour has 22 Minutes' yesterday. How cool did Dion look in his terminator alter ego. Who is the woman in that show? She was hysterical - poor old harper looked as impressional as usual. Wonder if they thought 'sh*t' when they were throwing her out the room and realised half of Canada will watch this so decided to suck it up.

A question I heard asked on TV yesterday was where the speech originated.

Harper's guy may have nicked it from the Aussies, or it may have been supplied to numerous parties by........

Oh, the speech clearly promoted the Bush agenda and the Repugs have some fantastic writers, it would have been remiss of the neo-cons in other countries not to use that resource. It's just as, when having agents sell for us in other markets, we provide the materials and they adapt them for local tastes.

Yes. Harper was just recycling. Pity to throw away a well crafted bit of bullshit after only one use.

One hopes the other parties can usefully demonstrate Harper to be a poodle of the US but we'll see.

Locally there seems to be some quite Canadian campaigning. Signs featuring a picture of Bob Rae have had "NDP" scrawled on his head. Affixed to the posters are notes saying, in part, "defacing this sign three times illustrates the desperation of the Conservative Party". I'm pondering defacing the notes with the suggestion that it's actually disguntled NDP members who have cause to vandalize Mr. Rae.

Sounds just like a thread on here then?

I find the idea that Harper's speechwriters hadn't prepared and cleared drafts of his March 20th speech with him well before the Australian frothing loon's speech on the 18th, to be slightly preposterous.

Obviously, they were both spouting the drivel provided to them by Washington.

Something that I am sure the other parties are now trying desperately to find evidence of. If it's true, it's a bit of a gift.

Only if you think the people who vote for Harper want him to be independent of the US, if people vote for him as a proxy of Bush or Palin then this will just get him more support.

That sort of person might well vote for him under those circumstances. There should be just enough of them to avoid the Conservative party being obliterated outside Calgary. That's fine. I don't want to be unreasonable.

Interesting point. I guess much will hang on whether it was calculated or just a cock-up.
