At the risk of sounding Nigel Farage-ish the Guardian have gone too far with their Remain stance on this one. I thought this sort of thing was always given scale in terms of its relationship to the size of Wales?:sneaky:

(Off to try to google how big Luxembourg is, preferably in comparison to Wales, but I'm sure that is Siouxie is awake she'll beat me to it!)

This may not be too far from the truth. Scientific reports in reputable publications suggest by the end of this century many parts of the world could be uninhabitable due to climate change and rising temperatures.

On the video, Wales was used as a reference

Perhaps the Guardian wanted to avoid a duplicate reference

It doesn't really matter as Earth is scheduled for demolition to make way for a hyperspace bypass long before then.

Maybe. Turns out Wales is about four times the size of Luxembourg, so maybe 'half the size of Wales' sounded less dramatic as a headline.

Any Guardian readers as ignorant as me (googling where exactly is Luxembourg?) could do 'visit Luxembourg' a favour though, as it looks lovely. Definitely on the wish list now.

Although probably not a good thing for the environment. Aeroplane travel and all that.

I passed through a couple of times by coach before stopping off in Metz, France en route to Switzerland/Austria.

Had a brief visit to the other 'L' too many moons ago.

The Guardian may be all Continental and sophisticated and Luxembourgeois (if that's the word) but it's good to see Auntie Beeb has her priorites right. Quarter the size of Wales, though, is the only reference here, so somebody's arithmetic is up the creek... Giant iceberg splits from Antarctic - BBC News

ETA: Wales is 8 times the size of Luxembourg, so it may be TeaandToday's arithmetic that needs remedial attention ;)

It is. But we really need to know how many football pitches it is long and wide and of course how many double-decker buses it is thick.

BTW, this (for once) has little or nothing to do with climate change. This sort of thing has always happened at irregular intervals. And because the Larssen C is an ice-shalf, which floats, the broken off bit won't affect sea-levels when it melts.\

"Don't panic" might be the better Dad's Army quote.

According to the CBC it is the size of PEI and twice the volume of Lake Erie.

It's OK, a few "actors" will be down there soon to have a look, the Arctic having been done to death already!

This suggests that putting PEI and its twin sister into Lake Erie might be a great idea.

Just think how many more visitors Ann of Green Gables cottage would get.
