Went back to the UK for a week...

Just been back to England for my eldest daughter's Graduation.

Any lingering thoughts of ever moving back have gone!

Did a drive-by of my old house. What a dump! The new iwners clearly aren't house proud. Hope they find all of the faults that I carefully hid before we sold it to them

Spent 6 hours driving from Godstone to Knutsford. Had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery on the M40. But the traffic is even worse than I remember.

Got funny looks in Tesco for buying multiple packs of Germolene, hay fever tablets (one that isn't available over here - Acrivastine), Nesquik banana, some Migaine tablets that you can't get here, Milky Bar and various random other things in multiples....

Cleared the local sweet shop of Coltsfoot Rock. 3lbs should last a while....

When I'm buying my pile of marmite, Branston etc I'll smile to the cashier and say "you can't get these in canada".

Except this time I expect sighs of admiration.

Er, you can. Most supermarkets I go to stock Marmite and Branston.

I'll stock up on paracetomol next time I'm in the UK. You can't get that here.

It's the equivalent of using bank notes to light your ciggies for normal folk.

I can see a new comedy character waving bits of cheese....Loadsacheesies!

Yes you can, it is known as Acetomenaphin... ;)
Tylenol "Extra strength" is 500mg of Acetomenaphin or paracetamol

The trouble with that is it's no good for jokes when there's a shortage in the jungle.

Maybe gave a chat with Roy Chubby Brown on the second bit. He would have a ball with that.

Paracetamol brand names. This article contains a list of the various brand names for the pain medication paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) and the countries associated with a specific brand name. Common brandnames include Tylenol, Calpol, and Panadol. ;)

The only things I really miss are Savlon and Rinstead Pastilles (for mouth ulcers)! We stocked up those when we were back in the UK in 2008, and have had rellies bring over small amounts since. But now I'm on the last tube of Savlon, and no visitors on the horizon :(

I've found replacements for most everything else. Branston, Heinz Salad Cream etc are all easily available.

I wonder a bit about the Branston. It seems to have changed colour and got a bit sweeter.

Have you tried Polysporin? That's what I use when I slash myself doing DIY.

Solpadeine Max solubles are great for hangovers. Or Solpadeine Migraine for dull meetings. I get boxes of the stuff brought back by colleagues.
