Well things are looking up..

Since yesterday I have received 5 calls for interviews. I had 2 today, 1 tomorrow and 1 on Monday.

The 5th I haven't been able to reach, they called while I was in one of the interviews, no the phone wasn't on during the interview.

I hope *fingers crossed* one leads to a job.

After not getting any calls for months, this turn of events has been strange but welcomed.

Guess students going back really does open up jobs.

Good luck - what is it like being unemployed in canada? Is there a decent structure of advice/help from job centres/agencies to get you back in work? How long have you been looking?

Services available and quality all depend on where you are. There are employment centres that will assist you with resume writing, job search tips and things like that. I used them for awhile but the resume they helped me with was rather poor.

I ended up just making my own.

For help with financial issues, there is EI but you need certain amount of qualifying hours, which I didn't have so no income since January. I have been looking full-stop since April.

Only this week did interviews start coming in. Well I had 1 in May and one in August but 5 scheduled in 2 days, first time this year that has happend.

They are in a couple industries but all service oriented jobs.

1. Car lot attendant, washing cars, moving cars, helping odd jobs, etc.

2. Customer Service for online pharmacy, taking orders, complaints etc.

3. Customer Service for a pizza call center, taking order, complaints etc.

4. Front Desk Agent in Vancouver.

5. Delivery driver for auto parts store.

Pay vares the bold ones are under 10/hr and the other 2 start between 11-13/hr but at this point anything is better then $0 per hour.

Good luck! :)

I was the same as you, heard nothing for ages then had a string of interviews, ended up going to one and getting called to come back in the next day and was offered the job! I definately am noticing a difference here now as there seems to be alot more job boards when driving around, plus more job ads in the newspapers! So hopefully this is the start of better days!

Re: Well things are looking up..

Had the last of the scheduled interviews today.

I can say they have been the oddest interviews I have ever had, but hopefully one will lead to a job.

Todays took over 2 hours, 1 hour in the interview itself and the other hour taking a test, well an essay type test answering questions.

Now the waiting starts....Hopefully out of them all 1 will = a job.
