Sounds like you are on the path to being healthier & dropping the weight which is wonderful & good luck to you

Definitely cut down big time on the soda pop, the sugar products, as well as snack foods. If you are hungry eat a stick of celery

Suggestion for you is first thing in the morning as well as before you go to bed, is a cup/mug of hot green tea which you will find will drop you pounds as well as flush some of the unwanted crap out of your body

Is that worth the vomiting though?

I've yet to discover any herbal, healthy teas that don't taste foul after smelling nice.

Very true! The commercial herbal teas composed of dried stale herbs are terrible.

However, I quite like an infusion I make myself from various mint leaves (no sprays or chemicals ever used) that are picked fresh from my own garden ....

What makes it healthy though? Green tea has the same amount of caffeine in it as regular tea..

No idea about healthy, but you don't need boiling water to brew it, which makes it the 'least worst' option in certain coffee shops....

The best herbal I've had was in Morocco, where they use enormous strands of fresh mint and copious amounts of sugar (or was that me?) to produce a wonderful tea.

Mint and sugar? Yeah, that's it. ;)

Something in the preparation though. I haven't been able to replicate it at home.

That stuff will make your teeth hurt!

It take some getting used to but it's surprisingly refreshing.

I don't have a steady healthy diet

The more I am seeing people in my age group dying and coming down with serious illnesses and diseases from just being over weight and not exercising, I need to do this now and become healthier before something bad happens.

I may not always seem that I like living, and I admit I sometimes don't, but I am finally getting things together and want to be here long enough to see them through, and hopefully live 30 or 40 more years so I can accomplish, build and enjoy my new life that is being built.

the C&P above is from post #1....

No disrespect mean't, but after re-reading the OP, could it be perhaps that after so many pages on this thread, that you may have bee having us all on?

And here we all were trying to make suggestions about diet, fish, ways to cook things, exercising to suggesting you see a doctor & dietitian.

After the comments to my 'green tea' suggestion, I think its time to take a nap:eek:

I'd answer but you've confused me.

I have seen a doctor hence why I know I am at risk for certain things, but those illnesses have not developed so I have time to change life style choices to prevent them from happening hopefully.

I have tried to lose weight before and failed, hence asking as I know people have been successful in losing weight and keeping it off.

I don't know if green tea is healthier or not vs other tea's, I drink it for a bit flavor since I can drink it without any sugar or sweetener added since its a weak flavor overall.

Other tea's I have to dump in so much sugar defeats the purpose....

Lipton does make a decaf green tea although I haven't tried it, just saw it at the store once.

I don't like green tea at all but can stand other herbal teas - of course they're much better with whiskey and sugar in them though.

I've read that (Japanese) green tea provides some extra health benefits. Can't remember what though.

I'd be happy at my weight, if it was muscle and not fat.

That said 7 days of no drinking soda now, only water, a little green tea with no sugar or sweeteners added, along with water with a slight bit of pure lemon juice just for a bit of flavor.

The scale says 225 in the morning today, a week ago it said 230, so apparently dumping soda is working, along with 20 minute walks, although 5 walks now and my hips are killing me, but I know the pain will go away once my body gets used to the exercise, been through this before, so I know its only short term pain.

Honestly if I still loaded airplanes, I'd have no issue with this, would never have gained so much weight.

Sounds like whatever you are doing is working so stick with It. A good way to keep calories down is to make sure each meal or snack is one third non starchy vegetables or fruit.

I feel motivated to get back on my diet plan now, thanks for the nudge.
