weekend away in southern ontario
ok so it's my 30th birthday coming up (mid december) and i'd like to go away for the weekend for a 1 or 2 night stay with the bf. I dont want to travel too far but it would be nice to explore somewhere new with either outdoor activities (e.g. hiking) or a city break with interesting places to visit.
I have previously visited niagara on the lake/the falls, stratford, London, collingwood, and currently live in Guelph. I havent seen much of toronto but spent many years in London (UK) and toronto doesnt hold much appeal. Maybe i'm missing something? Any great ideas for a weekend getaway within a 5 hour radius? |

1000 Islands?
10,000 Islands? Mid december is tricky for weather related outside fun I guess, too cold for summer stuff, not cold enough for winter stuff... |

Check out Prince Edward County wineries and in between tasting wonderful wines checkout Lake on The Mountain just outside of Picton. A trip on the redneck cruise ship (Glenora ferry) takes you to historic Kingston where you can get a decent curry. How English can it get?

I second Picton! We've been a couple of time and it's really pretty and quaint. Or how about coming down to Ottawa..there's lots to see and do and some lovely quirky towns on the way in like Merrickville.

Finger Lakes area of NY, Adirondacks, Detroit (urban grit porn opportunities?), Peelee Island, Muskoka. If you want to prolong your child free life a little bit longer, a weekend at a Great Wolf Lodge will convince you to never have children.

I would love to visit muskoka but i'm not sure mid december would be the best time Detroit and urban grit porn opportunities doesnt sound quite my thing. haha. The other options sound fantastic though Any ideas a bit closer to home (guelph)? |
