Vancouver peeps - recommendations for reasonable winter tyres and storage
So I have wheels now (yay) but I have to get winter tyres as well as I plan to go to the hills/whistler etc.
I realize a set is going to set me back around $400-$1000 but I also need to store my all season and visa versa as I don't have storage.
So my questions are there any good places to get tyres and storage - I believe storage should be around $60 per season?
Thanks

We use Canadian Tire, it's $60 for the storage and then around $50 for the tire change. I have a Canadian Tire credit card and save my Canadian Tire money and that usually covers half of it. We shopped around a bit and they were slightly cheaper than a few other places and it's pretty quick to get the car booked in and done.

I'll go check them out and get a quote

Wouldn't all- seasons make more sense? I was fine with them for (toronto) city driving and occasional winter forays into the countryside.
I have two sets now for different reasons.

We use all weathers. They have a snow flake and are an in bewtween so no storing or changing.
Works fine for bulk of southern BC.
Some all seasons are also marked M+S which are legally sufficient for much of the province.

It would be great if I could use the same set all year round but I'll probably have to get a set.

Maybe, but I was pretty much in love with my Continental all seasons. They actually had better warm weather grip that the Uniroyal summer tires I replaced them with. at 2/3 the price...
What I'm saving in insurance discount I'm spending at $30 a pop to have the swapped. But it does give me that extra inch in the cold, and we all need that.

These are probably the best all weather tyres you can buy in Canada right now. Unfortunately Kal Tire has the monopoly so you can only buy from there.

Re: Vancouver peeps - recommendations for reasonable winter tyres and storage
Issue I found with winter tires is they sucked in the rain. And rain is what the LM and Fraser Valley get the most of.
We have the all weathers from KUMHO and they do very well in the rain. We have not had snow or ice so cant say. The Nokia all weather was beyond our budget so KUMHO it was. Fountain Tire and I think they were 97 per tire vs 150 per tire for the Nokia.
Sbow and ice doesnt concern me since its not the norm for the LM and FV.
We only got the all weathers as the highway to Squamish requires m and s or snowflake and MIL lives there.

The link above says that all weathers with M&S should be fine across BC so I will look into these.
Ill check out Canadian tire and Kal tire. I am prepared to spend a bit more on tires if I can keep the same set on all year and not pay for storage.

I'm currently going through this exercise in Toronto and thinking I need to put my winter tyres on rims to reduce the cost of having them switched in future.
