Vancouver Food Bank needs a warehouse
 

What a silly world we live in causing so much red tape and difficulty to food banks.

They have to vacate their current donated space as the developer wants to redevelop, the city apparently isn't very helpful so the foodbank issued a public appeal for space.

And to highlight the development red tape hell in Vancouver, the foodbank has a smaller location at a former Greyhound location they are unable to use because of the city's red tape for development.

Frankly if the government isn't going to provide food support to people, and going to rely on charity they should at least provide the space the charity needs so the charity doesn't have to spend limited funds on expenses leases which means less money to buy food and feed people.


"they also leased the former Greyhound bus facility at 1405 Thornton Street in the False Creek Flats as a mini-warehouse and daily pick-up location for almost 100 community agencies, but the renovations on this building have been delayed as the food bank is waiting for development and building permits from the City of Vancouver."

"The food bank has missed its previously set target opening dates of January 2 and February 1 due to the municipal government’s delays."

As of an hour ago from a post by someone connected to the food bank, they haven't been contacted by anyone yet who may have a building they can use.

I wonder what the government's plans are if the food bank can't find a location within Vancouver, having no locations within the city of Vancouver would place even more hardship onto people least able to handle it.
