From my policing days, I was once involved with a team involving fast Police vehicles/Drivers with a crew of two armed police officers, such vehicles being available immediately in the event of fire arm related matters e.g. Armed robberies etc.

This was in the days before such Units were as common place in the UK as is the case today.

The name of the unit was the Fast Action Response Team or as we christened it, the FART squad.

Colleagues had a lot of mileage on that one. Guy who came up with it had to be Assistant Chief Constable level.....
