UK General Election

Re: UK General Election
And with those 60 socialists MPs gone, England never has another labour government again, in the post-brexit reshuffle.

It's what they vote for up there. Might be fairer both sides of the border. Scotland would be Labour vs Liberals (Does the SNP even exist after independence?) and the odd Tory in Whiskeyshire.

currently a Tory in my former constituency of Banff and Buchanan, which used to be the Westminster seat of Alex Salmond, although his SNP replacement was less obnoxious. Lost to the Tories in 2017. Partly a casualty of the CFP, but Ruth Davidson probably helped. (Obviously leave voters are never motivated by immigration. Not at all.)

Ten years ago. She must have been quite young in the new (and unanticipated) coalition. It was definitely a unmitigated mistake for LD to support the Tories in this, and they have paid the price in electoral results for many years. How many more decades and leaders do they need to atone for one broken promise. Time to move on. Well past the time, in fact.
It's what they do. Me first, party second, hangers on third, etc etc.... THE PEOPLE last.

Never seen the appeal of the Conservative party, don't think I could ever bring myself to vote for them. I'm voting by proxy, have it set up with my dad and he's a labour remain voter in a safe labour seat.
It's an area that could see a lot of brexit party support though, it'll be interesting to see how well they do there.

Re: UK General Election
I would vote Labour because I strongly agree with their policies.
I have voted Lib Dem in the past both in the absence of a Labour candidate where I was living and as a protest against Blair taking us into Iraq.
I would not vote for the Lib Dems whilst Swinson is in charge as I think that she is a diet Tory.
I will settle for most alternatives that would see the Tories out.

But I don't regard the BBC as particularly biased against a particular party, more a case of being biased in favour of whichever party is in government (and therefore controls it's board).

I see the Tories are moving Johnson to a safer seat given that his majority was fairly small and they felt that he was in serious danger of being beaten.

I'm not a Brit so I won't vote in the poll (although, if I was living in the UK i'd have a vote as a resident commonwealth citizen - i think?) but I would vote emphatically for whichever party will try and stop the brexit disaster.

It was an advisory referendum and what they should have seen the sense to do, all of them, was find a mechanism to have a conversation with the country to find out why the brexit vote and proceed from there.

Re: UK General Election
Nobody... irrespective of what you think about Brexit, not one of that shower in parliament deserves a vote. Pick your poison... the Brexiteers have become unhinged and the remainers would hardly fill you with confidence that they have any solutions to what to do with the fact the vote went for Brexit.
There are some really good MPs, from most of the main parties. The biggest problem with Brexit is that the government and the media won't tell the public how bad Brexit is likely to be, nor has any party publicly been willing to stand up and tell the public the benefits of our EU membership.. But doing either of the above will be a sure Leave-vote loser, so I can see why.

The Tories have been the cause of most of the UK's ills, though looser banking regulations under Blair's Labour (and supported by Tories) began the major problems. And Blair Labour's failure to implement free movèment controls for A8 nationals was a big mistake in hindsight, but had the projected number been correct (aka had more EU member states done the same as the UK did), they would have been more managable.
The current Labour Party isn't as Tory blue as it was in Blairs time (other than a vocal minority), neither is it as res as 70s and 80s Labour.
