Saskatchewan has the right idea they don't change their clocks. So next week we fall back an hour but this will make no difference to cats or dogs so my cat will be waking me up an hour earlier then :(

A yes our dog takes a week or so to get used to her slightly different meal schedule and she looks at us for a week like wtf humans ha ha

BC government is willing to stop the practice but prefers to go along with at least WA/OR/CA but its not looking like congress will act on approving it anytime soon, so maybe BC will go it alone.

US states can stay on standard time year round no issue, but to stay on daylight savings time, they need congress to authorize it, California is now looking to stay on standard time year round since it wont require congressional approval.

Hopefully BC will just be independent and go it alone, I understand why the government would prefer to be on the same time as the 3 US states, but its not the end of the world if we are off an hour.

Horgan is delaying the "no change from DST" until next year .............. he and the Washington State Governor had a discussion and decided that there was no way Congress in Washington DC would get their minds around letting the 3 Pacific States also stay on DST until after they've finished with impeachment debates.

Apparently the Yukon is also interested in joining the group that stays on DST.


So we will have to change the clocks this coming weekend, and also again in March next year.

The needing congressional approval and a congress who has thus far showed no interest (Florida has been trying for 2 years already) in taking up this topic is one reason the California Assemblyman who was sponsoring state legislation has dropped it for the time being after legislation stalled in the state senate. (California legislature has 2 houses, the state assembly and the state senate.)

One of the reasons it stalled in the state senate was due to pressures on the chairperson of the committee to stay in sync with Tijuana Mexico region.

There is also growing preference to stay on standard time year round as Arizona does, which would also be far easier as it would not require congressional approval and the state can do it on it's own.

California legislators plan to bring up the topic again next spring.

I absolutely hate doing the clocks thing. I don't know if it's because I don't like change generally or because it's quite normal to think changing clocks is a stupid idea..

I have two irritations. Suddenly for short periods I have to remember that football on the telly kicks off at 5.00pm instead of 4.00 and it's time consuming changing clocks, especially the older bedside radio that I have to hold a button down until the numbers pass, hoping I don't miss the right number because it has to go around all over again if I do.

First world problems. :lol:
