To be honest I didn't mind his funny gifs of him wrestling CNN etc.

But when you turn on the computer and read through your timeline and see that the US president is retweeting videos of people being beaten up, or thrown from a roof top...it's not a good day.

Lots of pieces recently analyzing Trump's campaign and concluding that its central appeal was racism so, yes, he's doing what he does to boost his popularity.

He's given Theresa May a ticking off for complaining about him distributing hate material with a British connection, it'll be interesting to see how she takes that.

You'd think there would have been enough by now. What could be left, revelations he's been shagging Ivanka? His supporter appeal would likely soar.

I don't think he's reached the bottom of the barrel yet. Some people probably already think he's shagged his daughter and have no issue with that because she's 'pretty'.

I guess he truly represents a narrow base of deplorables, and those who gave him the benefit of doubt, should hang their heads in shame. Barring any criminal activity, he's there for another three years, and it will be a case of damage limitation. Perhaps the press should take a different tack in reporting, less outrage, more sober and constructive analysis. The thing that would wind Trump up the most would be if the press focussed on Pence, Tillerson, etc, and kind of ignored Trump.

For all their bravado and grandstanding, the US is a country terrified of itself.

Seemingly intelligent human beings will walk around a supermarket armed to the teeth just in case another seemingly intelligent human being decides to blow them away. Overlay this with layers of islamaphobia, fear of becoming ill, fear of becoming poor, guilt and fear on the one hand and hatred on the other at a realisation that non-white people are still third class citizens and now the media, encouraged by the DPRK news factory, is busy informing an already nervous community that they are about to get nuked and you have an electorate that'll grasp anything that tells them things are going to get better.

And Trump, the man in charge of the asylum, sees that more military, more immigration controls and more right thinking does him no harm. It won him an election and for all our bluster he understands his electoral base better than we do. Don't underestimate his tweets, there's method in that madness.

Nothing to underestimate. He's stoking up racism amongst an ugly minority of his countrymen. The rest of America is far better than that and will prevail.
