Stupidity at its finest. Palestine and Israel have been tearing lumps out of each other for eons, its an irresolvable issue, why doesn't he just keep his beak out if he can't do anything constructive.

It's certainly entertaining to watch him. All those decades of statesmen acting in a prudent manner, avoiding nuclear war and stoking up conflict, foreign or domestic, chugging along with convention wisdom such as denouncing paedophiles and preserving America's beauty, and now we have a complete change.

It's a little unfortunate that the fate of the world now hinges on all his predecessors having been wrong. I would not have bet on Bush, Reagan, Carter and Obama agreeing on something and it being wrong.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Trump's "win" in the US Supreme Court. Actually, I'm not.

The counter argument is that not doing anything hasn't brought lasting peace to the region so let's shake this shit up, what's the worst that could happen?

His tax package is the bigger "win", is it not? That'll change things for decades, the Muslim ban will last, at most, for a few years.

Trump is only carrying on the US tradition of pretending to be an honest broker whilst overtly supporting Israel's decades old strategy of acquiring land.

At least he's being honest, even if it'll be a disaster. It simply exposes US policy to the daylight from out of the shadows.

Possibly. I simply assumed that, in light of the fact that some noted the decisions of the lower Courts striking it down, for completeness, they would have commented upon how the Supreme Court overturned those decisions.

No great surprise given the partisan nature of the Supreme Court.

It was decided 7-2. I thought the received wisdom was that 5 of them were "frothing loon right wingers" and 4 of them were "pinko lefties". Maybe they simply followed the law.

Indeed. But let's be clear: the ruling has allowed the ban to be enforced pending the remaining hearings into the substantive issues over the constitutionality of the ban. From the Guardian report, so as pinko-left as you wish:

The ruling does not mean that the supreme court has accepted the ban as constitutional, but that it finds persuasive the Trump administration’s argument that an emergency injunction against the ban was unnecessary.

The high court is expected to weigh the ban on its merits – and to rule on whether it violates constitutional protections against discrimination – in the coming months.

True, however throwing a molotov cocktail on the fire doesn't help either! A negotiated sharing of the capital was the only real chance or some form of peace, if that were ever possible.

I suppose similar to the power sharing agreement of the Northern Ireland parliament, but that did come at the price of submitting to terrorists.
