Re: Trump Trump Trump
Our economy seems to be slowing down, railroads are often early indicators when they start to lay off and reduce capacity due to lowered demand, something to watch. If Air Canada and Westjet start posting losses another indicator as people cut back on travel, suppose in January we will see how well retailers did for Christmas.
There does seem to be more people looking for jobs, usually my wife has no issue getting interviews, but these days even she is struggling, one interview in 3 months.

Just a reminder to read past the headline - from the same article: "this is still the strongest year for job growth in Canada in 17 years."
Canada has had 1.44% GDP growth this quarter.

It's become unsettling, in some ways it's like watching a wrestling match without rules.
This Trump impeachment has had me taking sides.
I'm not quite to the stage of booing or cheering at the TV but it's pretty damn close.
Can't imagine what it's like to live it, just having it dominate the news is bad enough.

I rather like the dem approach of keeping articles from the senate.
Will mean that Trump is impeached but never acquitted, it'll mean more tweets but I can live with that, doubt that Trump will.

Did Trump bomb and kill the big boss for votes ????
Trump personally ordered the killing by airstrike of Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who is believed to have died in the early hours of Friday near an airport in Baghdad.

Yes. It's the strategy he accused Obama of planning. In this case a war helps with the election and in diverting attention from the impeachment. Presumably it'll worsen relations with the EU, perhaps giving Johnson cause to squirm.

Re: Trump Trump Trump
There can be little doubt that Trump's strategy was to divert attention from his impeachment.
But Trump, a man who can barely understand any briefing put before him, and arguably can barely read, almost certainly didn't know who the man he targeted was and what he represented. To him this was merely an exercise in TV news intervention... until the next one.
This assassination is the definition of how to invoke unexpected consequences, unexpected because I doubt that he thought further than today's round of golf.
No doubt his mate Netanyahu is breathing a sigh of relief, his political strength lies is his hard line against Iran and Trump has just gifted him breathing space that might put off the day when he faces the courts.
A bad day for everyone else.
It should never be forgotten that something called WW1 started because of the assassination of an obscure political figure and that squabble was only ever going to over 'quickly'.

Gen. Soleimani was apparently on the US radar for 20 years, but the geopolitical consequences of a "targeted strike" (i.e. assassination) were deemed to be too great. Deemed, that is, by 20 years worth of Pentagon intelligence experts, military commanders and indeed Presidents.
Enter newly-impeached Trump, eager to deflect attention...
