Trump Hotel, Vancouver
Trump has a little less money coming in!
The owners of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Vancouver have filed for bankruptcy, citing the effects of covid-19 on travel.
The hotel closed as of yesterday (August 27), staff laid off.
The Tower has condos on the floors above the hotel, condo owners had all kinds of services from the hotel, as well as concierges, and have been told not available.
Seemingly a new owner has taken over and will be contacting the condo owners.
The owners were based in Malaysia, and leased the Trump name from the Trump hotel company, the hotel was not owned by the Trump family.. It was opened about 3½ years by his two sons, who swanned into Canada several days prior with wives and entourage, and spent several days up in Whistler at Canadian expense.
It almost sounds as though the owners have literally walked away.
The nightclub and restaurant were closed temporarily about 2-3 weeks ago because of transgressions of the new BC covid rules for their operation.
