I heard about Kenney's rather awkward polling numbers on the radio yesterday - I think it was a news piece that started from the NB election and looked more widely at the state of provincial polling across the country. Is he suffering the consequences of his early arrogance? He does rather give the impression, to an outsider, that he waltzed into Alberta politics on the back of a promising federal political career, having been frustrated by being in opposition and the tedium of the leadership process after Harper's resignation. And having succeeded in uniting the Wild Rose and Conservative parties, then won election as Premier, he didn't really feel the need to build consensus anywhere... and that is now coming back to bite him.

But as I said, that's from a position of litlte knowledge of the ins and outs of provincial politics outside Ontario. Alberta folks: how does it play out within the province?

Julie Payette is starting to seem like she may not be a nice person, especially towards those who work under her.

"Payette was given severance of roughly $200,000 when she resigned from the Montreal Science Centre in 2016 following complaints about her treatment of employees, say multiple sources. In 2017, Payette left the Canadian Olympic Committee after two internal investigations into her treatment of staff including verbal harassment, sources said."

Do you think NDP will support the throne speech?

Seems the Bloc and Conservatives have said they will not.

Imo NDP will support the Throne Speech despite all of Sings muttering. Why? They are broke and an election now would be far from ideal.

Being broke has nothing to do with it in the sense that there is no way the NDP could win an election. Sure they need to win seats like all parties. the NDP voters will vote NDP same as the PC's and Liberals. I thought voters voted for their local member and not the leader so why do Trudeau, Singh and O'Toole need to travel here there and everywhere during an election.

You couldn't pay me to vote for one of these leaders nor do I believe in voting for one of their parties. Wasn't that Throne Speech riveting yesterday? Where you sat on the edge of your seat? Did you almost orgasm when this was said
"Combating climate change is to be the "cornerstone" of a plan to create one million new jobs."

Sorry I have no time for politicians these days. Not just applicable to Canada either look at the US and UK to see what people think of politicians.

If I do go and vote I will be taking a pen and writing in Margaret Thatcher and placing a big X beside that name.

That sounds sensible. Dull, but sensible. That's what Canada's about, isn't it?

I wonder if 1 million jobs will be enough...assuming the plan works...

Canada has too much space and jobs are too centralized to a few big city's, need to encourage companies to spread out a bit.

Sounds great but the Govt won't be creating the jobs it will be businesses but I guess they will take the credit for having them created. Covid 19 created lots of jobs didn't it? How many stores now have a security officer at the front door which they didn't have pre Covid.

None in my area, Wal-Mart has their greeters but they always had them. Can't say I have seen a security guard at the door of any store, other than Wal-Mart none of the stores I have gone to even have an employee at the door, self check outs have become more common though, so stores need less employees.

11th, in 2018 but, if the objective is to make and sell carbon footprint solutions in locations that need them, then, luckily, the US is nearby.

The per-capita table at the end of that article appears to have been sorted on the wrong column - countries appear in the same order that they do in the "overall" table, rather than ranked by per-capita emissions. Of those 18 countries (presumably the data set is bigger, and there may be additional per-capita outliers that have small total populations), Canada ranks 5th behind Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Australia and the US.

So still not good, but certainly good enough to highlight another one of Boiler's unfounded allegations as false.
