Peer pressure? ;)

The thing is about a van is you can always pull over to the side of the road and make a nice cup of tea in the back. I'd like a new Ford Transit van but its probably not overly practical living in a city. :(

Not that practical out here either I wouldn't think. Hauling hay / towing trailers / transporting deer / elk / moose. The practicalities of the space in the back of a transit outweigh anything, but I'm not sure it would be good for everything else.

Then again I've never looked into it because I am neither the A team nor a builder with his arse hanging out of his jeans.

Ah. There's a truck in this household. It came with a "topper". The "topper" wasn't very practical so I took a chainsaw to it and there's now a tonneau.

One advantage of a truck over a van is that, in a van, you share the air with the cargo. If you're going to the dump you want a truck (or a trailer). The other is that tall things can go in a truck but not in a van, round bales, for example.

Dead chickens. Dog shit (a fortnight's worth for two canines). Used cat litter (winter only). Other rubbish as needed.

On the way back we might fill the jerry cans with petrol and diesel, more smelly stuff.

That does sound rather ghastly and not something you'd want to put in the back of a van if you're planning to sit there having a cup of tea.

That, Sir, is why the Ford F150 is the biggest selling vehicle in North America. It allows the placement of one's animal excrement at a safe distance. Note that the option for a rear window in the cab, a "beer can window", is not a popular one, a matter of convenience vs. odour.

and that if you're a skilled shot, you can get the beer can from the drivers window into the box without even looking!
