Tracking Stolen Mobile Phones
 

I think something similar has happened recently in Canada also.

I'm not really into phones etc but for normal non-smart phones is it possible to track them? One of the childrens phones went missing before Christmas and I doubt its going to turn up anywhere so I'm guessing all we can do is contact Rogers and get it blocked.

If you do lose a phone and block it you can unblock it again if you do find it. I lost my Blackberry last summer but someone found it and returned it, lucky eh?

In a similar vein - I recently left my Itouch on an Air Canada flight. The first I knew of it is when I got a message through facebook from a stewardess asking me if I'd like her to send it back to me. She did, I was reunited with my technology. Had the Itouch been locked, I'dve never got it back. In fact, according to her, had the Itouch gone to AC lost property I'd also have never got it back!

I did change all my passwords though, just in case.

I lost my phone just before Christmas (think it fell out of my pocket in the taxi)... we phoned Rogers the next morning as soon as we discovered it was missing, blocked it and they sent me a replacement.

It never did turn up, but I wasn't too bothered as it was blocked and didn't have anything important on it.

You have to install an app on the phone that sends it's GPS co-ords somewhere. Having the GPS chip and Data Connection switched on in the phone 24/7 can't be great for the battery life though.

Not sure how to feel about that response though, rather nice of her I suppose.
