Default Touch typing

Go on... have a go, see what you get.

In my sample text, I got 41 wpm, with 3 mistakes.

Had to give it a go to check my typing is still up to speed (nothing to do with putting off writing yet more Christmas cards of course).

83 wpm, no mistakes.

Would have thought with all your speedy edits your typing would be faster actually.

My time at secretarial college wasn't entirely wasted anyway, seems I can still type reasonably fast. I once worked with a girl that had a 100wpm typing speed.

Clearly the mods are bored today.............

Keep up the good work.

Dont they now have speech to text programmes that save you actually having to type?

Yes, they're rubbish. You know how when you try to use your handsfree on your phone and call somebody, most of the time you end up phoning the wrong person or your phone asks you to repeat the name 10 times? They're like that, only worse.

My mum was a secretary.... 120wpm in pre Word Processor days, and some ridiculous shorthand rate too.

Clearly its not a genetic trait.

It said I got 326wpm with one mistake. I fear the one mistake was the whole thing.

Blimey, that's amazing. I did shorthand too, was rubbish at it and have never used it since college so I'd imagine it's probably about 10wpm now.

I was taught on an old manual typewriter. The pass mark back then for my Class 1 was 30 wpm and I think you were allowed 1 mistake per 5 wpm. Nowdays I am around 60 wpm, but it is much easier on a keyboard.

If I remember correctly, we had to do 25 wpm in grade 10 to pass and 40 wpm in grade 11. I think I squeaked by but I was never %100 on the numbers in the top row. I can, however type 'Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party.' with absolutely blinding speed and no mistakes. Too bad there's no call for that. The test in the link was hopeless on my phone - why is there a comma behind every word?
