Toronto Homicides
So the condo shootings from Sunday night made the UK News on Monday.
The teenage girls (age 13-16 ) swarming and stabbing to death their victim happened in the early hours of Sunday morning. They were arrested soon after and appeared in court on Sunday, the same day it happened. I first heard of the stabbing on CBC News Tuesday evening (UK News Weds). I can't say it wasn't reported before Tuesday but the way I heard it was like it happened that day or maybe Monday rather than what was effectively Saturday night. On the one hand multiple deaths is more newsworthy but on the other hand multiple very young attackers is also newsworthy. Did anyone hear of the stabbing incident before the shooting one? It just seems very odd that incident, death, arrest and court appearance all happened several hours before the shooting but the shooting incident appears to have made the News getting on for 48 hours earlier than the stabbing. Juvenile offences/court appearances under the radar or something? |

Toronto is a terrible place.

Re: Toronto Homicides
heard the swarming story (though it wasn't yet categorized as such) on Sunday's local news. I guess the full extent of the incident (that there were so many perpetrators and they were so young) didn't become common knowledge til a bit later - and "homeless man is stabbed to death" sadly isn't uncommon enough to make international news.
The North York shooting seems to have been over a dispute between a condo resident and the board for his condo building. By all accounts he was a particularly unpleasant man - interviews with his (estranged) family indicate that he was an abusive husband and father, known both for a nasty temper and a tendency to hold a grudge. |

Re: Toronto Homicides
Toronto changed too much to the negative.
It was good back in the days when it was a boring place with a huge parking lot at the lakefront. Now it's unaffordable, constantly getting bigger and crime is also more as it used to be. It's more an example of a city which grew too much and too fast.

To be fair, everyone who has lived in a condo or a place with a HMO wants to shoot the people on the board. Boards attract such people.

We only go there for work, do the job, get out straight away, never stop over anymore. It's a really ugly place too. It's changed so much the last ten years, don't feel comfortable there.. |
