Toronto Hockey in October

Hey All

We're going to be in Toronto in October and are hoping we could go to a Hockey game while we're in town.

What are the chances of getting tickets for a Maple Leafs game, are they hard to get at a decent price?

Cheers

Doesn't look they're too hard to get right now. As for expense I'll leave that up to you. ;)

Sixth entry down the list starts the October home games.

Holy shit, are Leafs tickets usually that much? Was just looking at the Dec 2nd game against the Oilers (my home team ...:)) and minimum is $100  But Argos, Blue Jays and TFC games can be bought for much less. Can you get them cheaper on Ticketmaster or anywhere else nearer the time or is that the going rate ...?

I use stubhub because, when I can be bothered to compare, it has the cheapest Leafs tickets.

I think the price of the tickets and the fact that the arena is sold out for the forseeable future accounts in large part for the quality of the team, there's simply no need for the Leafs to field a competent squad. Note that, although all the seats are sold, the building will only be half full in the middle of the first period and less full by the end of the game.

If you're interested to see iced hockey itself then Buffalo or Montreal have teams nearby (bars often run bus trips to Buffalo) or there are minor league games featuring even more violence than the NHL. If it's for the sake having seen the Leafs then, yes, it's $100+ to sit up high and watch over rows and rows of empty seats.

Give http://www.etorontotickets.com/LeafsTickets.htm a try. If you e-mail them, they should be able to give you some idea of what they'll likely have around the time, and a rough price.

Hockey? Only kids play that around here. There is a big building near the waterfront that boasts of a hockey team but it's only a rumour. People here tend to get "successful NHL franchise" confused with "hockey team". :)

No, they're usually more. There has been a downward trend in Leafs ticket prices the last year or two, but they're still ridiculously high due to the huge number of season ticket holders.

If you want to see a decent hockey team play, and not pay as much, I highly recommend going to see the Toronto Marlies playing at the Ricoh Stadium. The feeder team for the Leafs, except they're really good. Prices are good, easy to get to on the 509 or 511 streetcar, and entertaining.
