Top tips for house staging!
So, am busy getting my house ready to put it on the market. I thought it looked 'light bright and airy.' I got a few of my Canadian friends in to give opinions, and they all reckoned the paint was too light and that Canadians preferred 'shades of brown and darker colours!' Well, being out of my comfort zone, (never having painted brown before...yeuch) I think I have have come up with the ultimate resource!
http://realgoodthings.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/b.png It is quite the multi purpose tool. Not only have you a good suggestions of colour flow throughout your house, but it can help you choose texture too! For example... Number one could simulate a lovely pebble dash effect Number three could be used as a colour co- ordinated grout or Number six, could simulate a lovely rag roll effect. What a cheap and easy resource for any other struggling Canadian decorators! Happy Painting |

Re: Top tips for house staging!
Last year we sold our house in the university quarter. Every third household on our street was owned by an academic. The realtor told us we had too many books and it might put off buyers.

I can't wait to de-poop our house! The thing is, all the Canadian home magazines etc, show non-poop colours. I can't imagine they all like brown......can they?! The lighter colours would make the home seem larger and brighter(given that we have tiny windows round here too, but that's a whole other subject!). |

This is the same woman who would do a soup each day. One day she would call it 'broccoli and cheese', then a few days later she would be say it was 'sort of stilton and broccoli'! Where is the vomiting emoticon when you need it! |

That's......something else, isn't it! Don't quite know what to say! This is gross!!! Reminds me of where I worked years ago, a staff member had some prized pigeons die on him, which he noticed on the way out to work. He grabbed them and took them with him and asked the canteen woman if he could keep them in the fridge until he went home! This is the same woman who would do a soup each day. My husband and I have convinced our son to move out of the basement bedroom and into our upstairs bedroom when we renovate. Then we will be making half the basement into a bedroom suite with a full size bathroom ensuite! There will be no poop-colours in site.....unless you count cream-tone travertine tiles in my bathroom! I can't wait! |

Oh, that sounds nice! We too are soon to be faced with the unenviable task of evicting our son out of his basement cave. Not so much for redecoration....more for fumigation purposes! There is definitely a sort of toxic smog emitted from his room. Goodness knows what he has growing in there. I try to avoid it if at all possible, as scared of what I might find! Ignorance is bliss! I have seen these little men in white suits that they use on the 'hoarders' programme. I might need one of them!

Re: Top tips for house staging!
Funny, I was just commenting to my husband yesterday about the number of poo shades I'd seen on the walls of houses we've been eyeing up online. I'm particularly enthralled by the ones that are done in a satin finish. Nothing quite like a feature wall in the bedroom that reminds you of a glistening poop.
