I've had posh meals at resuratnats but you always have that uneasy feeling that you're part of a Veblenian analysis of consumption.

Does "The Baseball" cooked Chicago style at the Keg count as posh?

Fair point, fair point.

When West Cornwall Pasties started opening pie shops at train stations in London I used to buy them for dinner after a few post work beers in my defence. A one up from Burger King.....

I prefer Oggy Oggy Pasty Co over Greggs.

I once bought a "Cornish" Pasty in Sobeys. It was like someone kicked me in the head.

Never again.

Veblenian: meaning and definitions
I used to think they were, but I've become enlightened to the qualities of their rib steak. They did get rid of their giant tomato and now provide posh sting beans instead but given the debaucherous antics of our Christmas party, I think I should give it some time for them to get some new staff before I go back.

Bacon, Egg and Chips [Proper bacon and chips only]
Black pudding, bacon and scallop stack [but only if in Stornoway and with Charles McLeod's black pudding]
Shepherds Pie made with sheep
Roast Lakeland lamb.
Fish and chips from a proper chippy
Pies (any) from Higginsons of Grange
Proper Cumberland Sausage

OK, that's more than 5, but bacon and lamb and chips appear more than once, so there's overlap....

That's fine. I would rather someone proposed 6 if they are going to include an item that could be classified as breakfast. It covers all the bases then.

Sometimes it's more about 'the meal' or the occasion. Or even the place. Maybe the memory sums it up.

So that would be Breakfast at The Waldorf and Lunch at The Savoy.
I would have included Tea at The Ritz but it made me feel a bit queasy from all the sandwiches, cakes and 7 cups of tea.

One particular restaurant in Malia, Crete where absolutely every dish tasted heaven sent (even the fried eggplant) and another at Sissi, also Crete where the Moussaka was to die for.

The Canary Reastaurant in Metz, France with the best ever salad followed by a great steak.

A lovely Ham and Cheese salad baguette sitting by the Harbour and posh boats at Monaco.

Numerous cheese and onion sandwiches with a nice pint in various pubs in the lunchbreak

Battered sausage and chips from Templars, Brislington on a Saturday lunchtime.

The wedding dinner - some specially made horses doovers, pétoncles and Caribou. I have a photo of me at the table looker utterly contented.

But playing by the rules and in no particular order:

Roast Turkey, roast spuds/parsnips, two types of stuffing, squeaky green beans, cranberry sauce. Wine essential.

Roast Beef Tenderloin, roast spuds/carrots, squeaky green beans, PC Creamy Horseradish. Wine essential. Cheese after.

Freshly cooked Plaice and Chips.

Take-away Chicken Curry with rice (and Chips ) on the way home after a few beers at the local pub.

Toss up between Faggot peas and chips and Cumberland sausage and chips - I suspect these two are more about not having had any for my 12+ years here and not since Chernobyl in 1986, for the sausage, before that.

Bubbling under and a new arrival, Chicken and Prawn Thai Red Curry with assistance from a VH jar.

That was five. Four definites, a tie for fifth and in true top twenty style a mention for bubbling under. Or, if it was a dog show, VHC.

Thank you for the consolidation! As Stinky aptly points out below. We are not looking for "War and Peace".
