Tim Horton's

Re: Tim Horton's
I think the point of this post is bemusement. There is just a group of people who just fail to 'get' TH. I'm not anti Canadian, I married one and am growing another, but St. Timmy gives me the pip, their ads are cringeworthy.
I have eaten there, and as Oink says it's just sooo mediocre. If I'm not going mega bucks I'd sooner go to McDonalds, I much prefer the coffee, including the iced ones. Oddly enough the bunch I work with, all Canadian, can't bear TH either, they all go to Starbucks....as in get the car out of the parking, and drive off there, if they aren't going to one of the whole food places that do double soya latte numbers. I think they are all nuts, it costs a fortune! Three coffees = a bottle of wine....I generally have a tea bag about my person.
Even those of you out there that like the Tim Bits and all the other goodies that Tim pedals must admit that individually all of the component parts are done far better by other places, so how come there are such queues? I just fail to understand how its become a national icon?
Those of you who have been here a long time, was it ever thus? Or is this a really smart ad campaign worthy of Stepford?

Never quite understood the predeliction for British Expats to crow about how they are so glad they came to Canada, and then denigrate almost everything about the place. Odd, really! Perhaps they resent losing the Empire? Want to treat the natives in a paternalistic manner!

Apologies, Dasher33 posted and then deleted his post because it was me! The poor man is my husband, and I hadn't realised I had somehow logged on as him! so I deleted it when I realised. He's a man of few words and fewer posts....he doesn't like TH either though!

I am with you AC...I probably have 40 or so cups a year, but I DO enjoy the ones I have. The mediocrity comes into the OK muffin, tea biscuit or whatever else it might be. Wouldn't YOU want to be known as doing ONE thing better than all of the so so competition?

I take it for what it is, mass produced produce. If I wanted something that could not be described as mediocre, I doubt that I would be able to find it without having to pay a much higher cost than the fare offered at Timmies.
One wonders how many on this forum work in mediocre jobs, drive mediocre vehicles, live in mediocre houses and surround themselves mediocre furnishings all the while complaining about the class system in the UK!

So, you don't like coffee. Many people do. Those that like good coffee, which is readily available, will mostly tell you that TH coffee is vile (and weak). I can't drink it. Same with instant coffee. I'd rather go without.

I am confident that those that are "experts" on the issue of "good coffee", would describe what you drink as "vile" too. It's a pointless argument. You are unlikely to be able to persuade Timmies drinkers of the "error" of their ways; they are unlikely to be able to persuade you of yours.

Tim Hortons serves coffee. The LCBO or other provincially regulated boards sell beer. At TH you get their choice of coffee whereas the beer store offers you quite a few different beers. Somedays you will buy your favourite beer other days you may tempt yourself into trying something new.
If not happy with Timmies you also have the choice of trying another chain or independent coffee shop or buying it from a grocery/specialist store or ordering online.
Yes sheeple you have a choice some of us prefer tea or juice or flavoured waters. Its not hard to make a decision based on your personal preference and taste.
Just remember to empty the Timmies cup before you roll up the rim to win

I don't believe I have said anything different. What I said was, "People will drink what they like, why feel the need to criticize the choices of others" or words to that effect.

There are undoubtedly a large number of Timmies addicts. Most, I suspect, have never drunk anything else, except perhaps instant. They know no better.

Was going to vote for 2 but on checking I am upset to find out that in fact there are none within 3km. Nearest is 4.2km......hope they put one in at the new Clearview Market Place I love a Timmies although I am beginning to wonder if they have an ingredient in their iced coffee that makes them addictive as they are becoming quite the habit Tried a McD's iced coffee last week.........disappointing

I remember journeying to/in Europe by coach many moons ago and the other travelers would have their cafe au lait mostly complaining it was too strong, when really they were just tasting non instant coffee.

It would appear that you believe your choice of coffee is better than the choice of those that "know no better". I find such arrogance bizarre.
